How to connect home center via LAN
In order to improve device control response speed and simplify user operation, the Terncy app has added a new function of automatically connecting to the home center via LAN. This article will introduce how to implement.
* The Terncy app version needs to be 3.0.28 or above.
Advantages of Connecting via LAN
In the Terncy app version 3.0.27 and below, the connection method of the home center is determined based on the user’s login method. When users login with their account, the home center relies on cloud services for device control and data processing. However, when users login locally, the home center establishes a connection via the LAN. For version 3.0.28 or above, the app automatically selects the optimal method. When both the app and the home center are within the same LAN, they will automatically connect via the LAN, has the following advantages:
1.Real-time response: Due to the direct transmission of control commands via the LAN, the response speed of the devices is significantly improved, providing a smoother and immediate control experience.
2.Improved stability: By connecting via the LAN, reliance on cloud services is reduced. Even in the event of internet connection disruptions, users can still smoothly control their devices without worrying about external factors interfering, ensuring the reliability of device control.
3.User-friendliness: The automatic LAN connection feature simplifies the user operation process, eliminating the need for manual switching to local mode. Additionally, it allows simultaneous management of multiple home centers connected via the LAN, providing a more convenient user experience.
How to implement automatic LAN connection
Supported scenarios for automatic LAN connection
1.The app and the home center are connected to the same Wi-Fi network with internet access. The Terncy account successfully logs in to the Wi-Fi and successfully associates with the home center.
2.The app and the home center are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, the Terncy account is successfully logs in to the Wi-Fi and successfully associates with the home center. Subsequently, the Wi-Fi loses internet access.
3.The app and the home center are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, the Terncy account is successfully logs in to the Wi-Fi and successfully associates with the home center. The app and the home center simultaneously switch to another Wi-Fi.
Not supported scenarios for automatic LAN connection
1.App and home center are not on the same Wi-Fi network.
Terncy app will search Ternch Home Center in the same network. Make sure the Home Center is connected to the router that provides WiFi for you phone. On iOS devices, mare sure the Local Network Access permission is granted to Terncy app in General - Privacy - Local Network setting. Use the tool below for diagnose: - iPhone, run Discovery App;or search mdns keyword in App Store; (The Discovery tool requires Loal Network permission as well) - Android, run ServiceBrowser App or Goole Play
2.The Wi-Fi network does not have internet access. The app and the home center are connected to this Wi-Fi network, and the app has not discovered and connected to the home center on any Wi-Fi network with internet access.
3.The “LAN Access Authorization” page of the home center does not display the token assigned to the current phone.
Note: If you delete and re-install the app on your phone, your existing token stored on the phone will be cleared. You’ll need to login your account and connect the Home Center with internet connection to acquire a new token.
Terncy app can discover devices via LAN. Once the App detects that the home center is present on the same LAN, it will attempt to establish a LAN connection with the home center. After successfully establishing the LAN connection, the App will automatically use the LAN connection method to send control commands, thereby improving device control response speed and stability. If the automatic LAN connection fails, the home center can still control the devices through the cloud connection method.
How to confirm the home center has been connected via the LAN
On the home center list page, you can see the 🔗 icon in the lower left corner of the home center connected via LAN. Conversely, the home center connected via the cloud does not have that icon.
Note
Any that should be displayed 🔗 icon are not displayed can be restored by restarting the app.
