Terncy System Local Mode

Terncy Home Center is the core of Terncy automation system, it works as the central gateway. It takes the responsibily of ethernet network engament, cloud server connection, ZigBee devices management, automation rules schedule, etc.

During the design of the Terncy automation system, we’re following the guidelines below to make a truely reliable, fast and creative solution.

  1. Higher stability. The automation system should continue to work even if your internet is broken.
  2. Less restrict. You can finish system setup and management in your new home that doesn’t have internet connection.
  3. Privacy protection. The system stores data all in local system, you don’t have to upload data to manufacturer’s server. Even a Terncy account isn’t mandatory anymore. We care so much about your privacy, not in its content, but in its safety.

Let’s illustrate the work mechanism of Terncy system in below three circumstance.

  1. Internet connected
  2. Local area netwrok only
  3. No network at all

Internet connected

This is the most typical connection state. Your system connects to the internet, and Terncy Home Center can connect to the cloud server.

How to use
  1. Register an account in Terncy app and login
  2. Pair the Home Center after login by following the guide

Local area network only

If your home doesn’t have internet, the internet service is down or you prohibite Terncy Home Center from accessing inetwork with firewall, the Terncy app can still communicate with Terncy system in Local mode.

Local access mode isn’t only usable in a environment without internet, you can always use it as long as it’s in a reachable router. Use this mode if you’d like to avoid registering a Terncy account.

How to use
  1. Terncy Home Center and mobile phone must be connected to the same router
  2. Start Terncy app
  3. Tap the Home Center icon on top of the login screen, as image blow shows
FAQ
  1. Why I can’t find Terncy Home Center icon in Terncy app login screen?
    Terncy app will search Ternch Home Center in the same network, and show it. If you can’t see the icon, please make sure the Home Center is powered on and connected to a ethernet cable. Most importantly, do make sure the Home Center is connected to the router that provides WiFi for you phone. On iOS devices, mare sure the Local Network Access permission is granted to Terncy app in General - Privacy - Local Network setting. Be extra cautious that Home Center should connect to the same WiFi router as your phone, use the tool below for diagnose:
  2. Why I got login failed error?
    If a Home Center is already ownedby a user, who created Terncy account and paired the Home Center, it will only allow the ower’s App to connect via local mode. To avoid anyone in the local network to control your system without acknowledge of you. If it’s a new phone, please login your Terncy account first to prove the phone belongs to a valid user. Then logout and try local mode again.

No network at all

If your home’s router isn’t working, or the Home Center’s ethernet cable is broken. The Home Center should continue to support ZigBee network work.

How to use

You can’t use Terncy app, but you can still use the physical buttons to control all of the devices. The automation that has been setup previously continues to work.
